The Government of Kuwait issued a new economic plan that includes a total of 1,100 projects at an estimated value of KD37bn (€102BN).

In February 2010 the Kuwaiti parliament unanimously approved an ambitious five year economic development plan. The plan includes more than 1000 projects aimed at reviving the Kuwaiti economy and decreasing the country’s dependence on oil. This new development plan is considered the largest in the history of Kuwait with a total spending projected to reach $125bn targeting key sectors: infrastructure, residential, healthcare and education.

The new development projects planned in Kuwait present Dutch architects, engineers and consultants with ample business opportunities. Kuwait is looking for Western expertise and knowhow for the realization of these ambitious projects in an efficient and timely manner. The country is on the look for the latest technology, innovation and trends in the design, construction, fit-out and management of its projects. The Holland Gulf Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Royal Dutch Embassy in Kuwait is organizing a trade mission to Kuwait on 3-6 March 2012. This event provides an unique opportunity to meet with key decision makers, learn about upcoming projects and understand the procedures for working in Kuwait. The trade mission is intended for architects, master planners, urban developers, engineers and consultants experienced in infrastructural, residential, commercial and other urban development projects.
