SR338m contracts for Qatif projects


Qatif municipality awarded contracts worth SR338 million for a series of service, municipal and development projects in Qatif governorate during 1433H. The projects included construction of a new fish market at the cost of SR40 million, development and completion of Tarout channel (SR7.85 million) and beautification of coastal areas (SR32.13 million), the Saudi Press Agency reported, quoting a report by the Eastern Province governorate.

Last year Qatif municipality implemented a number of traffic safety projects including installation of traffic signals at different intersections, pedestrian footbridges, iron fences, and guidance boards at a cost totaling SR6.41 million. The municipality also funded a group of projects including a rain and flood disposal project at a cost of SR21.79 million and another project for naming and numbering of Qatif major streets and houses (SR5.35 million).
Meanwhile, a project worth SR78 million for the construction of a third causeway between Qatif and Tarout Island was awarded to a national company. The project is aimed at easing traffic congestion in the coastal areas. A new building for Qatif municipality is being implemented to replace the old one at the cost of SR9.17 million.
